Florida Concealed Weapon Carry Classes
The state of Florida requires only a 2 hour lecture and that the instructor observe the student firing one shot. After personally being involved in firearms for protection and sport for many years, I have found that 2 hours is simply not enough time to even begin to get the information and training you need. Watching a student fire just one shot is simply ridiculous. There is only one reason you are thinking about obtaining your Florida Concealed Weapon Carry License, to prepare yourself to be able to protect you and your family from a deadly threat. Is your life (and your families) worth only 2 hours?
It is a proven fact that an armed person with no training, or the wrong kind of training, is more of a danger to themselves and their innocent family members, than they are to the bad guy.
We offer an 8 hour class in which we will discuss several aspects of personal preservation. Theses aspects include the use of firearms, knives, sticks and your mind. Your mind can be one of your most powerful tools in self preservation. We can show you some of the fundamental ideas of what to do, and how to do it, to survive a deadly confrontation. In the 8 hour class you will fire not just 1 round as the state requires, but 200 rounds. Some schools simply give you the minimal 2 hour lecture, hand you a gun with one bullet, watch you shoot it and off you go. That is a true disservice to their students. One of the things you will learn and understand that even 8 hours is not nearly enough time to train properly. See below for information on more advanced and continuing classes.

If you have a gun that you plan to use for protection, be it a handgun, rifle or shotgun, you are welcome (in fact requested) to bring it. You will shoot the majority of your rounds with your own gun. You will also be provided a variety of our guns to shoot. If you do not yet have a gun selected and purchased that is fine as well. In fact, if you have not yet bought one and are not sure what to get, this class will give you a lot of background and some useful experience to help you base your purchase decision on. This way you will get a feel for what fits you and your personal lifestyle, circumstances, and needs. This may very well save you from making what turns out to be a wrong purchase.
The fee for the 8 hour Florida Concealed Weapon Carry Class is $100. All equipment is supplied, but as noted above, if you already have a weapon, please bring it, UNLOADED and in a case. If you do bring a loaded gun to class please inform the instructor immediately upon arrival! Hearing and eye protection use are mandatory. If you have, and prefer to use, your own hearing and eye protection you are welcome to do so.
If you have well behaved children 12 years of age or older, please bring them. It is a very good idea for them to be familiar with your gun and the safety aspects of it. This is the perfect opportunity to introduced them to the concepts of safe gun ownership. There is no fee for this. PLEASE make a note on the bottom of your application if you will be bringing a child as classroom space is limited.
Custom classes can be arranged for individuals, families and groups. Classes from beginner to intermediate level are available. The state required Hunter Safety classes for young hunters will be coming soon.
It is our fervent hope that you get some real training before you drop a gun in your pocket, purse, desk drawer, or wherever you choose to keep it, and go about your life. All the schools and trainers listed on that page can offer you training from novice shooter all the way up to highly advanced operator. As you begin your voyage of training you will hear from all of the top instructors that they recommend you take classes from more than one person or school so that you get more than one method of doing things. Each class is slightly different and you, the student, will take something new and different from each class you attend even when you repeat a similar class with the same instructor.
